Data are available for the Aboriginal identity population by age groups for selected socio-demographic characteristics."

BU has a print collection of CYB in Government Documents which includes many of the older, as well as more recent, volumes of this publication. The publication ceased publication in 2012.

"The First Nations Regional Early Childhood, Education and Employment Survey (FNREEES, or REEES) was created to address a long-standing data gap that existed around early childhood education and development, youth employment and education, adult employment and education, and labour-market conditions in First Nations communities.
Launched in 2013, the REEES was conducted and carried out by the First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC), a non-profit First Nations organization, in collaboration with its Regional Partner organizations (representing 10 provinces and two territories).

The most technically complex survey ever undertaken by FNIGC, the REEES was a unique initiative, marking the first time this breadth of information had ever been collected in First Nations on-reserve and Northern communities. The baseline data collected through the REEES offers valuable information on key indicators on a range of topics spanning the life cycle."

From the Introduction:...The Aboriginal population in Canada is growing at a remarkable pace. Between 2011 and 2016, the Aboriginal identity population increased 19.5%, compared to a 4.2% increase in the non‑Aboriginal population. Growth in the previous census period of 2006 to 2011 was also significant; the Aboriginal identity population increased 19.8% while the non‑Aboriginal population increased 5.2%. What can account for this growth? While birth rates in the Aboriginal population have remained relatively high, there are non‑demographic factors to consider. This study examines response mobility, which refers, in this context, to the phenomenon by which people provide different responses over time to census questions about Indigenous identity...."
