American Resistance: No Kings Oct 18

This guide is intended to identify building resistance to the Trump regime in the United States. It lists groups, leaders, protests. It can serve as a marker of important initiatives that will be of historical relevance.

No Kings October 18, 2025

On October 18th over 2600 protests were registered; 800 of which occurred outside of the United States in support of their democracy.

These rallies occurred in all 50 states and early numbers have over Seven Million marching in protest.  Following the lead of protesters dressed in inflatable costumes in Portland Oregon, cities across the country and the globe dressed as the Portland Frog, in addition to a wide array of costumes.  Protest signs were everywhere and creative.

Like the June No Kings Day protests, these ones were peaceful. Unlike June,  alternative media in the form of Substack, YouTube and TicTok broadcasters, were active everywhere.  Local Media covered events and mention of the protests occurred in major outlets and MSNCB covered the events as they were happening.  Senator Bernie Sanders, Governor J.B. Pritzker, the MA Poet Laureate Regie O'Hare Gibson, and Bishop William Barber all gave amazing speeches.  Other leaders of the movement and several politicians marched in solidarity.

Prior to the protests - which were anticipated to be massive - President Trump called for the launching of live missiles over the I-5 highway on October 18th. It was called dangerous  but he insisted it be part of a Navy celebration that day.   Governor Newsom ordered parts of the highway closed;  for which he was accused of overreacting by Vice President J.D. Vance and other Republicans. Despite the closure, there was a casualty when a missile went off over the highway and damaged a security vehicle for the Vice President of the United States (I kid you not).

Some call it Karma. Conspiracy  theorists  might claim this is the second Vice President Trump tried to have attacked -  the first being Mike Pence on January 6th, 2021.  I call it the political embodiment of a Monty Python movie.
