The virtual displays for April are Earth Day, National Poetry Month, Sikh Heritage Month, and Stress Awareness Month.
The following sections have a variety of topics regarding both displays. Physical displays can also be found by the main circulation desk in the John E. Robbins Library.
Earth Day started in 1970 (1980 in Canada) and continues annually on April 22nd to raise awareness and support for environmental protection. This display will focus on climate change, Earth Day itself, ethics, philosophy, politics, public perception, and sustainability.
Beginning in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets after the success of Black History Month and Women's History Month. It promotes poetry through a combination of promotions, education, and special readings.
Sikhism is an Indian religion/philosophy from 15th century Punjab in India following the teachings of its 11 gurus. Sikh heritage month began in 2013 as a way to celebrate the people, arts, culture, and heritage of Sikhs across Canada. This display continues that by focusing on the Sikh diaspora, history, and religion.
This is an annual health awareness month dedicated to raising education of and support for stress management. This display is split between stress management and academic stress.
