The virtual displays for November are Indigenous Veterans Day, Movember, and Remembrance Day.
The following sections have a variety of topics regarding both displays. Physical displays can also be found by the main circulation desk in the John E. Robbins Library.
Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead in English) is held November 1st - 2nd annually in Mexico, with same variance according to region. Friends and family gather to pay their respects and honor the dead. It is often humorous and high energy, with many bright and bold coloring in altars and decorations.
Indigenous Veterans Day takes place on November 8th each year. It recognizes and celebrates the Aboriginal contributions to military service, especially with regards to the World Wars and the Korean War.
Movember is a month-long event that raises awareness for men's health, particularly with regards to prostate cancer, suicide, and testicular cancer. This is often done through charity donations to groups such as the Movember Foundation.
Remembrance Day is held on November 11th each year to recognize and honor armed forces veterans who died in war. It is held primarily in Commonwealth countries, but similar holidays are also held in other nations (such as Veteran's Day in the U.S.A.).
