The virtual displays for July are Canada Day, International Self Care Day, National Tattoo Day, and World Chocolate Day
The following sections have a variety of topics regarding both displays. Physical displays can also be found by the main circulation desk in the John E. Robbins Library.
Canada was confederated as a country on July 1st, 1867. This holiday falls on July 1st each year and serves almost as Canada's birthday and is a statutory holiday (and usually a day off work) to celebrate Canada. This display will focus on stories from two perspectives: that of Turtle Island from North American Indigenous creation myths; and of European history.
Held annually on July 24th, this holiday is dedicated to creating and maintaining lifelong habits of self care. Habits that look help you look after your own health, be that spiritual, mental, or physical. Always remember to take care of yourself. You are a wonderful person deserving of love and joy.
National Tattoo Day falls on July 17th and commemorates the art of tattooing that has been with us for millennia. This display will focus on the history of tattoos as well as both modern and traditional tattooing culture and practices. Local tattoo artists will also be located in the virtual display's Further Reading box.
This holiday is on July 7th and commemorates one of the most delicious of human inventions: chocolate. This delicious dessert is enjoyed worldwide, and so too is this holiday. This display focuses on chocolate itself, making chocolate, and stories that revolve around chocolate.
